Wooden Blinds: Tips to Get a Good Deal
Feb 11 2010
Cheap wooden blinds, discount wooden blinds, and affordable wooden blinds all sound like the same thing and in some cases they are. The key to finding real wood or faux wood blinds does not rely so much on the cost but on the manufacturer.
Here are a few tips to help you scout out different manufacturers.
Faux Wood is cheaper than Real Wood Blinds
The first thing you need to know is that faux wood blinds look like the real thing but at a fraction of the cost. They are heavier than real wood but for normal size windows, it is not a problem.
However, you need to be wary of cheaply made faux blinds. Good quality blinds will be made out of vinyl, PVC, or a wood combination. Stay away from the ones made out of foam. This is just a big no-no.
Real Wood can be Re-Stained and Repainted
When it comes to cost effectiveness, the longer the blinds last the better the value. If you can handle the upfront expense of real wood blinds, then you will have more options down the road. Repainting and re-staining real wood blinds is easy to do and can be done more than once.
The one thing you need to worry about is water. Real wood blinds do not work well around water. Over time, they are likely to bend, warp and crack. So keep these out of bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens. You are better off getting faux wood for these areas.
Custom Cut does not always mean Expensive
Many people think if they get custom cut blinds, it automatically means more expensive blinds. However, here at Blinds Chalet, we often offer discounts on custom cut faux and real wood blinds.
Buying custom cut blinds means you get the right fit every time. A custom fit adds elegance to your décor without adding expense.
